Keeping your Laptop Virus Free

Working all day on my laptop as I do, it’s important for me to keep it up to date! If anything were to happen, I would definitely be in a world of hurt. No work for me means no money for me and I can’t have that.

It’s confusing sometimes when it comes to updating and protecting your laptop. Virus protection is a must and if you lapse on an update, you could be in for a world of damage to your laptop. Visit only websites that are trustworthy and if at all possible.

Make it a point to keep your spam folder emptied. I have also changed my inbox to just have the message and subject but I don’t allow it to preview the message before opening. And NEVER open an email that looks suspicious; click it to spam and put a stop to them.

My favorite virus protection is AVG. It’s a great free virus protection you can get online. Google AVG, click on the link and download the free version to your laptop, boom you are done.

I was a religious user of Internet Explorer until I learned that it didn’t have the spyware malware protection. After doing a little research I learned of Mozilla and Opera. Mozilla Firefox and Opera will automatically eliminate the threat of spyware and now that’s all I use.

Schedule your AVG to do a weekly scan on your laptop. That way you it’s scheduled and done without you even knowing it. Also, clean off all those cookies to relieve some of the sluggishness!

Instead of letting your kids do all the filesharing, grab them an Itunes card and be done with it. Filesharing can be a haven for viruses so why even tempt it. Monitor your children’s Internet time to make sure they aren’t surfing unsafe sites that can do major damage to your computer.

I know that this is common sense, hopefully but I’m throwing it out there anyway. Never ever give out your SS number to anyone who asks for it in an email. I have heard a lot of people talk about receiving emails requesting this and they are not sure what to do.

Best advise is to delete the email and ignore the request…do I really have to tell you that. That’s my first response but you know some people just don’t know I guess. Always err on the side of caution. Be conscientious about your updates including the anti-virus and just keep your private business just that, PRIVATE!
